Jo Claes is a nonbinary LA-based writer specializing in comedy and animation.

Jo was an Apprentice Writer for Warner Bros. / Amblin’s GREMLINS: SECRETS OF THE MOGWAI and a Freelance Writer for Warner Bros.’ BUGS BUNNY BUILDERS. With a bachelor’s degree in Cinematography from CSULB and five years of character performing at Disneyland, Jo brings a visually dynamic and inherently cartoony voice to their comedy writing.

Improv training from the Upright Citizens Brigade and a neurodivergent noodle result in Jo’s fresh perspective in the writers’ room, specializing in joke punches and strong character stories. Jo loves writing stubborn, agency-riddled characters inhabiting wild worlds while tackling issues near and dear to their heart: complicated families (found and blood), LGBTQ+ visibility, and dismantling systemic injustices.
